Pakistan Vehicle Token Tax Calculator
Work out what your car costs to keep registered for a year: your province’s token and the federal amount collected at the same counter, for Punjab, Islamabad, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Token tax across Pakistan
Each province sets its own token, and they do not all work the same way. Punjab and Islamabad charge a share of the invoice price above 1,000cc; Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan still charge a set amount by engine size.
| Engine size | Filer | Non-filer |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,000 cc | Rs. 800 | Rs. 1,600 |
| 1,001 – 1,199 cc | Rs. 1,500 | Rs. 3,000 |
| 1,200 – 1,299 cc | Rs. 1,750 | Rs. 3,500 |
| 1,300 – 1,499 cc | Rs. 2,500 | Rs. 5,000 |
| 1,500 – 1,599 cc | Rs. 3,750 | Rs. 7,500 |
| 1,600 – 1,999 cc | Rs. 4,500 | Rs. 9,000 |
| 2,000 cc and above | Rs. 10,000 | Rs. 20,000 |
This federal part, collected under Section 234, is doubled for a non-filer and drops to nothing once the vehicle passes ten years old.
Worked example: Punjab, 1,300cc, Rs. 4,000,000 invoice
Punjab charges 0.3% of invoice value for 1,001–2,000cc: 0.3% of Rs. 4,000,000 = Rs. 12,000 provincial token, every year. The federal part for 1,300–1,499cc is Rs. 2,500 (filer). Total: Rs. 14,500/year.
Vehicle token tax FAQs
Is there a discount for paying early?
Punjab takes 10% off the yearly token if you pay the whole year by 31 August. Other provinces in this calculator do not offer an early-payment discount.
Do non-filers pay more token tax?
The provincial token itself does not vary by filer status. The federal Section 234 part collected alongside it is doubled for a non-filer.
Does the tax stop on an older car?
The federal Section 234 part stops once a car is more than ten years old. The provincial token continues to apply regardless of age.
What is a lifetime token?
A one-off charge paid once instead of every year — used for cars up to 1,000cc in Punjab and Islamabad, and for cars under five years old at the smallest sizes in Balochistan.
Which provinces does this calculator cover?
Punjab, Islamabad (ICT), Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Provinces revise their token tables most years — check your own excise department’s current schedule before you pay.
